TxDOT News Release: Spur 503 ramp closure, detour set in Denison

March 14, 2024 - Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced a ramp closure and detour for travelers on westbound Spur 503 in Denison, beginning March 18.

On that day, the ramps onto north- and southbound US 75 from westbound Spur 503 will close temporarily. This work is part of the US 75 reconstruction project from US 82 to North Loy Lake Road, officials said.

A temporary detour will route traffic from westbound Spur 503 onto the northbound US 75 frontage road. The detour will utilize the entrance ramps at North Loy Lake Road to provide access to north- and southbound US 75.

This detour is expected to add and estimated one to two minutes of travel time for northbound US 75 access, and three to four minutes for southbound US 75 access, officials said. Signs and message boards will be placed along the roadway to help travelers navigate the detour route. During this closure officials ask travelers to exercise caution when following the detour route and to remain alert to the presence of work crews in this area.

Officials also advised motorists to exercise caution, pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
