Music Lab

What is available in the music lab?

Inside the music lab is a variety instruments (Electric keyboards, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, electric bass guitar, and electric drums). It is  not sound-proof and electric instruments require headphones. The Music Lab door must remain closed to prevent excessive noise disruption from going out into the rest of the library.  The purpose of this room is to provide an environment where musicians may practice in an individual or group setting and where explorers may learn to play a new instrument.

How long do I get to use it for?
You can reserve the studio for one hour per day. If there are no reservations after you or the person who reserved the studio doesn't show up within 10 minutes of reservation time, and there's no one else in the lab who needs to use the studio, you're welcome to stay an extra hour. Please click here or call 903-465-1797 to make a reservation.

Is there someone there to help me?
There are staff and volunteers present that can offer limited assistance. All of us can get you started playing - some of us can provide help on higher-level skills. For additional assistance you can call us at 903-465-1797 or emailing library@cityofdenison.com. Please note: we will not record you or make beats for you - the purpose of the music lab is to provide you the opportunity to try out new instruments or master your current musical focus.

Can I bring in my own instruments?
Please do!  Just remember that all electric instruments must be plugged into an amp and headphones.  If using any other amplified instrument, you must get approval first before using it in the music lab.

Can I bring in my whole band?
How close are you to your fellow band members? It is a small space - about 10' x 20' - with just enough space to assemble a small group.
