The City of Denison Emergency Management is dedicated to protecting the lives and property of the residence and visitors by reducing the effects of disasters before they occur, through mitigation, planning for and coordinating the operations and response to a disaster, managing resources and coordination of recovery efforts following a disaster as well as providing public information.

The City of Denison  Emergency Management strives to provide a prepared and capable emergency management program for the city through training, community education, and preparedness by providing information and education to the general public, area emergency responders, and volunteers.

Under the leadership of the City Mayor,  City Manager, the City Council, and the Emergency Management Coordinator in the event of a disaster:

  • Will activate the Emergency Operations Center
  • Assesses the situation and involved all appropriate agencies
  • Support the Incident Commander 
  • Establish necessary resources needed for all residents or visitors that have been affected by the disaster
  • Public Information Officer provides information to the news media
  • Ensure continuity of government
  • Coordinate efforts including operations, logistics, planning, and finance with other government agencies to work together to establish a strategic plan.
  • Help coordinate recovery efforts throughout the City of Denison.
