Procedure for Gas Releases
Residential
- A permit must be obtained by a licensed plumber or by the owner of a homestead property per Texas law. Any residential property that has a gas system that has been altered or repaired requires a gas test and must be inspected by the City of Denison before Atmos will restore service.
- Gas appliances that are the source of a gas leak do not require a gas test and do not have to be inspected.
- Where a gas service has been disconnected due to a leak, a gas test and inspection by the City of Denison is required before Atmos will restore service.
Commercial
- A permit must be obtained by a licensed plumber. Any change of occupancy will require an inspection from the City of Denison
- Any Commercial property that has a gas system that has been altered or repaired will require a gas test and be inspected by the City of Denison before Atmos will restore service.
- Gas appliances that are the source of a gas leak do not require a gas test and do not have to be inspected.
- Where a gas service has been disconnected due to a leak, a gas test and inspection by the City of Denison is required before Atmos will restore service.
- Commercial Annual gas tests must refer to the Fire Marshal at 903-465-2720 x2207
**Gas tests must have an air test with a minimum 3 psi on a diaphragm type gauge and must hold for a minimum of 30 minutes.
