Wastewater 

The City of Denison owns and operates all of the wastewater collection and treatment systems within the city. The Paw Paw Wastewater Treatment Plant serves the vast majority of the city’s residents and businesses, and the North Texas Regional Airport (NTRA) Wastewater Treatment Plant serves all of the customers in the vicinity of the regional airport (formerly Perrin Air Force Base). 

The Paw Paw Wastewater Treatment Plant is a conventional activated sludge system rated to treat 6 million gallons per day. An average treatment day for Paw Paw is 3.58 million gallons per day. Paw Paw is required to be operated twenty-four (24) hours per day, three hundred - sixty five (365) days a year.

The NTRA Wastewater Treatment Plant utilizes a contact-stabilization process and is rated to treat 400,000 gallons per day. An average treatment day for NTRA is 100,000 gallons per day. 

Wastewater operators are required to hold treatment certifications from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and maintain high standards for operation and maintenance.
