Capital Projects

The City of Denison identifies and plans for annual and multi-year public improvements under the Capital Improvements Program, or CIP. These projects are funded primarily through utility rates and impact fees.

Project Overview

This project includes but is not limited to replacement of approximately 7,400 linear feet of existing 8” and 12” gravity sewer pipe with approximately 9,332 linear feet of proposed 12” and 18” gravity sewer pipe, respectively, beginning near Viking Street northwest of Crawford Street and Lillis Lane to east of Waterloo Lake. The project also includes replacement of approximately 1,425 linear feet of lateral gravity sewer lines ranging from 8” to 12”, pavement improvements, 18” storm drain installation, and abandonment of existing manholes and gravity pipe. 

Project Locations

The S. 7th Avenue, E. Hull Street, E. Murray Street, and W. Johnson Street projects involve the construction of approximately 4,400 linear feet of 8-inch and 4-inch diameter PVC water line. The project also includes replacing approximately 3,075 linear feet of 6-inch diameter sanitary sewer line; reconstruction of approximately 2,100 linear feet of 29-feet and 27-feet wide asphalt road with concrete curb & gutter; reconstruction of 1,850 linear feet of 18-feet and 31-feet  wide asphalt roadway. 

Project Overview

The project includes reconstruction of Loy Lake from the US-75 service road to north of Odell Avenue, including approximately 3,600 feet of 37-foot undivided reinforced concrete pavement with curb and gutter, sidewalk on each side of the roadway, storm sewer,

Project Map Limits FM 84 Waterline Improvements

This project includes but is not limited to upsizing a portion of the existing waterline from Hwy 75 to Lil' Old Road.  The City is replacing about 9,000 feet of 8" waterline with 12" waterline including new hydrants, new services, and other improvements.

Timeline: Construction began November 2023 and is estimated to be completed March 2024. 

Goal: Improved services for existing customers and additional capacity for future customers.  This project will provide construction water support for Preston Harbor Development.

Project Map

This project includes but is not limited to replacement of 2,600 feet of potable water pipeline at S. Chandler Ave. and Main St.  The existing pipeline has exceeded its useful lifespan. Project involves replacing the failing 14 inch cast iron water mainline with 24 inch PVC water main. Paving and fire hydrants will be replaced within the projects area.

Timeline: Construction began December 2023 and is estimated to be completed April 2024. 

City of Denison and The Denison Development Alliance (DDA) are working together to extend approximately 3,200 linear feet of 24" water line and approximately 5,100 linear feet of wastewater line to a parcel of land North of the US 75 and FM 84 intersection.

Timeline: Construction began in November 2023 and is expected completion is June 2024.

Goal: To provide utilities to future development within the area of the new water and wastewater services

Contractor: Dickerson Construction

 

This project includes the installation of a new intake structure on Lake Texoma capable of handling up to 50 million gallons daily at full build out. It also includes a new 42" raw water transmission line that will transport raw water from the pump station to Lake Randell, where it will then enter the treatment plant. New fiber optic line will be laid to connect the pump station to the City's SCADA network.
