Cops and Kids School Lunch Program

Cops and Kids School Lunch Program

In an effort to build trust and positive interaction between children and police officers, this program attempts to address that critical need in our community.  The Cops & Kids School Lunch Program is a monthly event and will include police officers and dispatchers from the Denison Police Department. The elementary school(s) will designate monthly one student from each third-grade class, based on school criteria, to have lunch in the cafeteria with a police officer and a dispatcher.  A special table for the lunch will be provided for the lunch by the school.

The goal of the program is to build positive interaction between children and police officers.  Many children often fear the police.  This program might alleviate those fears and also show the children that officers and dispatchers are regular people and here to help whenever possible.
